A known music type that came from Spain is Flamenco, which a lot of people wrongly believed to be the national music of Spain. Contrary to popular belief, Flamenco is only popular to one of Spain’s regions; it originated from Andalusia, an autonomous community in Spain and is regarded as the second biggest in terms of land area in the country. Unfortunately, most of the people from the Andalusian regions were of persecuted lineages, they were also mostly illiterate so they had no means of recording their own cultural beliefs for posterity; most of the history of Flamenco has been lost and greatly altered because it had only been passed on through oral tradition.
