Right here we play on each beat of the bar and also on the up stroke of 2 and 4. It might appear like a fairly easy rhythm, but the primary catch here is actually to retain your hand moving down and up at all times. Your right hand should really move as if you are in fact playing eight notes for the whole bar.
By so doing, the up stroke on beat 2 and 4 will come naturally and in time. Therefore slow this particular rhythm right down and pay attention that your right hand is actually moving up even on beat 1 and 3 though it's not in fact strumming the chord.
Once you figure it out you'll recognize how easy yet helpful this particular strumming patterns really is. As a possible supplementary exercise try and play a bar of quarter notes and one bar with this pattern changing each bar.

Frequently Asked Questions...
what's the difference between rhythm drums and regular drums?
I'm a beginner drummer and i was looking online for some drums and i saw some black pearl drums. It had the word rhythm by drum set like "Black Pearl Rhythm Drum Set". I was like what? Then it did'nt say it on any other drums. So i'm confused. Can you help me please?
Answer:
I think you are speaking of the Pearl Rhythm Traveler set. It is not exactly the same as a traditional drum set. It is made as more of a practice kit although you could play live with it. The drums are smaller than most kits...toms are 10, 12, 14 with a 13x5 snare. The toms are fairly shallow (5 inches), and they do not use a bottom head which I don't like. The reason is so they can stack inside of each other to save space. It is a good idea for someone that needs to cart a drum set around in a small car, but I wouldn't really recommend it as your main drum set. There are plenty of more conventional sets in the same price range. Maybe check out the Pearl Vision line.
