The Kindle Fire, What Is It Good For? (Techcrunch)
When the Kindle Fire first shipped a couple weeks ago, the reviews were mixed.
Uncle Walt calls it good, but not great. David Pogue at the NYT thinks it is
"sluggish," lacking "polish or speed." But the Kindle Fire is still selling
like hotcakes. Some reviewers are disappointed that it is not an iPad, but
that is the wrong way to look at it. The Fire is a standout media tablet that
does a few things very well and I am going to tell you what they are. I've
been using a Kindle Fire for the past two weeks (that is, when my kids or wife
haven't absconded to another room with it). The device passes my first test:
my family fights over it. The Fire is kid-tested, and mother-approved. Fruit
Ninja is the new obsession with my young children. Even my two-year-old, who
loves the iPad, is increasingly eyeing the Kindle Fire and scheming ways to
get her Mom out of the room so she can play with it. My wife will have none of
that, she's reading Joan Didion's latest book on the Fire. I sneak it away
from the bedside ...

Los Angeles is the entertainment capital around the globe. Every aspect of the entertainment business - movies, music as well as TV - reign supreme in the alluring Los Angeles. Talented people who search for fame and fortune as actors, directors and musicians frequently migrate out west. But the truth is many of them will not likely make it. Resulting from the Internet as well as digital downloading, the record industry has suffered serious as well as quite a few blood baths.
For proficient artists who are in search of an alternate career choice Los Angeles music schools that offer training in production or engineering are a superb option. L.A. has countless locations and there are thousands, if not tens of thousands, of bands as well as other musical performers attempting to make it on the L.A. landscape. That means employment prospects for talented producers; engineers as well as other studio professionals are great.
Los Angeles music schools, such as the Musicians Institute offer a variety of programs centered on recording techniques as well as the studio craft. At the Musicians Institute it is possible to acquire a Bachelors or Associates degree in music production or recording. MI has a good faculty as well as present day amenities. It also presents students with a good community of fellow students to work in. The biggest disadvantages of this kind of school, however, is the money as well as the time needed to finish the program.
If you're looking for a faster road to working in the recording business you may also want to look into the Recording Connection. In contrast to other Los Angeles music schools, the Recording Connection has no degrees, no classrooms as well as no teachers. The Recording Connection is a progressive vocational training institute that provides students a useful hands-on learning experience designed for students who are serious about a career in the recording arts.
Unlike other music schools the Recording Connection places its students in the environment of a genuine recording studio. There students learn by doing as they view and assist working studio professionals. Because of this, students learn quicker plus they are able to make connections as they study.
Mentorship-apprentice programs similar to those available from Recording Connection are also much cheaper than conventional degree programs such as those given by Musicians Institute. In fact they are not only more affordable, they are also flexible and more practically designed.
If you're set on enrolling in Los Angeles music schools, you have quite a few alternatives to choose from. You owe it to yourself to have a look at all of them just before deciding on which one is right for you.
