Annual Benefit for the Judeo Christian Outreach Center (hamptonroads)
This concert will feature the music of The Flowing Tide Ceili Band This annual
event is TFFM's way to reach out to those in need. By lending our support to
The Judeo Christian Outreach Center, we help them to empower homeless families
and individuals to recover from crisis situations and return to being self-
supporting, productive, and independent members of our community. The word
ceili (pron. KAY-lee) is a Gaelic word meaning a party with music & dancing.
The Flowing Tide Ceili Band is an ensemble of talented young musicians from
Hampton Roads, VA, who play traditional Irish, Scottish & American fiddle
tunes. The FTCB had its debut performance in the 2008 Virginia Arts Festival's
International Tattoo. They were featured with the Virginia Symphony in their
"Irish Spring Fling" concert in March, 2009, and perform in concerts
throughout the community. In fall 2010, they opened for The Martin Family Band
in Virginia Beach. Carol Thomas Downing is Flowing Tide's founder & arranger.
She has been fiddling since the 1970's, when she first learned Irish & old-
time American styles from master fiddlers in the Baltimore/Washington area.
